Tea is a well-known beverage. It is the most consumed drink in the world. Tea Day is observed on December 15th in Asian countries like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and more, However, the International Tea Day is observed on May 21st across the globe.

When was it first observed :

Asian countries like India and Sri Lanka have been celebrating International Tea day since 2005.

Why do we celebrate International Tea Day? :

Tea has been an economic commodity for ages. It has also had health benefits of various types of teas like green, herbal tea, and many more. The day is celebrated to create awareness about the growth and challenges that Tea Farmers faces. These challenges include less pay, lack of clean water, no medical services.

The main goal of this day is to promote better trade practice, working conditions, and sustainable production of Tea.

Why should you Drink Tea:

Tea has great health benefits.

  1. Tea contains antioxidants like polyphenol. These antioxidants reduce the risks of certain chronic diseases.

2. Tea has less caffeine than Coffee.

3. Tea may help in various diseases, It has a compound called Flavinoids, which is good for the Heart and reduces the chances of cancer.

4. It is also effective in Diabetes.

5. Tea has many antimicrobial properties, it also helps in weight loss and low cholesterol.

How many types of Tea :

Let’s just begin with India. India is the second most tea productive nation.

  1. Masala Tea— Black tea boiled with milk, sugar, and flavourful spices like ginger, clove, cardamom, and cinnamon. Every family in India has a personal recipe for it.
  2. Assam Tea- As the name suggests is produced in Assam. It is a black tea with a malty flavor very helpful in ovarian cancer. It also helps in increasing mental alertness.
  3. Green Tea- Green tea is the healthiest beverage on Earth. It has antioxidant properties. Some assume that it helps in losing weight but it has not been proved.
  4. Butter Tea- It is mostly consumed in Ladakh and Sikkim. It is traditionally made from tea leaves, yak milk butter, water, and salt.
  5. Kashmiri Kahwa- Kahwa is an exotic chai with rich flavor, it has cinnamon, saffron, cardamom, and dried rose petals that need to be added. Towards the end, green tea leaves need to be added to this concoction to make it as strong as preferred.

Tea was accidentally invented by Chinese emperor Shen Nong in 2737 BC. China is the largest producer of Tea in the world. Tea consumed in China are

2. Taiwan

Bubble Tea — It is also known as Boba Tea. A creamy component is added, such as milk, almond milk, or non-dairy creamers.

3. Malaysia-

TehTarik — Pulled Tea, aka is a strong, bittersweet hot tea mixed with sweet and creamy condensed milk that’s repeatedly poured between two cups.

4. Thailand

Cha yen- It is an iced tea made from Thai tea, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and sugar.

5. Pakistan

Noon Chai- It is also called shir chai, gulabi chai, Kashmiri tea, or pink tea, is a traditional tea beverage, originating from the Kashmir Valley, made with gunpowder tea (green tea leaves rolled into small balls), milk, and baking soda.

6. Morocco

Touareg Tea — Moroccan tea is flavored with aromatic herbs such as sage, wormwood, lemon verbena, wild thyme, and wild geranium are also used with sugar.

Conclusion:

Any kind of beverage be it Tea, Coffee or Drinks not only refreshes the mind. It also connects people. Tea is the most commonly used beverage across the world. It has economic, physical, and mental benefits.

Hence our government needs to put the efforts to take care of people involved in the productions of the Tea. It is a great way to make the efforts count by celebrating INTERNATIONAL TEA DAY.
